Our finished basement was suffering from water damage, during a very wet, hot and humid summer. We bought this dehumidifier because it held the largest capacity of water that we could find at the time.
Best purchase ever! This dehumidifier is so easy to set up and run, it took just minutes. We noticed a difference within hours and ran the dehumdifier all summer long in our basement. You can set the humidity level that you are comfortable with and it maintains it for you. We have a large, 3 bedroom finished basement and when we first started running it we were emptying it 2x a day. There is an alarm (a loud beeping 3x) that sounds to let you know (along with a light) that it's full. After a while we were emptying it less and less. Emptying the unit is made very easy by the identations on the bottom sides of the unit. Simply hold onto those and pull the bottom front portion out. There is a handle inside that you can lift up and carry to the sink or tub to empty. The water line is low enough so there is no sloshing all over the place as you walk with the container. Once emptied, simply put the handle down and slide it back in, it's that easy. There is also a light that lets you know when the filter needs to be washed. You simply pull it out, wash it with warm soapy water, rinse, let dry and replace. No running to the store to try and find some filters to replace! The unit will get cold when working so it will shut itself down to defrost (the digital readout code will let you know this) and start up again once it's defrosted....nothing that requires your intervention.
This was such a fantastic purchase and has worked so well for us. It has been used nonstop for over two summers now with no problems, easy to run and maintain and there was no big jump in our energy bill!!
The only downside, if you are looking for one, is the noise level when running this machine. No one said it was going to be quiet and it certainly isn't. This is a very noisy running dehunidifier but I will take that over moisture in my basement any time!
