We've had this Danby # 5009 for one month, so this is a review when the product is new. Quiet - just normal fan noise. I hooked the drain hose to it, put it in the basement corner, set it at 40% humidity, and walked away. It's about as quiet as a machine with a blower fan can be - as quiet as the pedestal fan we have closer to the steps - I have to go down and walk toward the unit before I can hear the fan on low speed, and get next to it to hear the hum of the condensor system. The included drain hose is ribbed - I would prefer a smooth hose. The fan runs all the time to circulate air, but this is balanced by the Energy Star rating.
